Discover the delights of wonderful Sennen Cove
A surfer’s paradise and oasis of relaxation in one…
Rise early, pack outdoor gear and a picnic, then drive west from Kenegie Manor to wonderful Sennen Cove. You’re on holiday, the day ahead is yours and best of all, because your holiday cottage is just a few miles away (but close enough, with a little imagination, to fall into the ‘Sennen self catering’ category) , you’ll beat many visitors to this quintessentially Cornish beach.
Enjoy another mesmerising Sennen Cove sunset
It’s the same at the end of the day. When others have already left for home, you can linger longer and take in another mesmerising Atlantic sunset on the beach or from the cliffs of Pedn-men-du. Then, as dusk casts its velvety veil over nearby Cape Cornwall, enjoy a cosy evening in a local pub – or head back to your cottage for a quiet supper at your Cornish home-from-home.
Highly regarded by surfers
From multi coloured sunsets to exhilarating water sports, this largely unspoilt bay (it’s not strictly a cove in the geographical sense) has lots to offer. Sennen surfing is renowned – and highly regarded by locals and visiting surfers alike. If you’re ready to ‘hang five’ or show off your tail slides, Sennen Cove is a great place to do it.
Sennen Cove offers activities for all the family
And if you’re a little less adventurous or just want to take in the beach scene? Whether you enjoy the sand itself or relax in the Beach Restaurant, Sennen, the cove offers many great ways to spend a day or an evening. As with so much of West Cornwall, the walking is also wonderful with long adventurous hikes along spectacular cliff paths or relaxing toddler-friendly jaunts along the beach. The choice is yours…
The cove has come a long way from its former life as a centre of the pilchard fishing industry. Now, with few commercial boats remaining, the little harbour’s harbour slipway bears witness to an earlier age at the southern end of the mile-long bay. And as you explore the harbour or the beach, keep your eyes peeled – you might just glimpse famous Bilbo, Sennen Cove’s lovable Newfoundland dog and the UK’s first canine lifeguard…
